Anna Winslow lives in a
small tightly knit community in Maine. When she receives a letter that turns
her world upside down, she discovers she has a half sister. In Death and a Pot of Chowder by Cornelia Kidd (aka Lea Wait), their
reunion is short lived as Anna is called back home when her
brother-in-law disappears. Newly-discovered sister Izzie comes back to Quarry Island to help
Anna solve the case. (Death and a Pot of Chowder will be released on June 22.)
Because Anna's husband and his brother are both lobstermen, most of their time is spent at sea. When Carl's boat is found a drift, the entire fleet of fishermen turns out to search. Unfortunately the results are not good. Carl is found dead, but worse yet is Burt, Anna's husband, was heard arguing with Carl earlier in the day.
When Carl's body is found with a bullet hole in it, everyone knows this was no accidental sea-related death.
With Izzie in the house, Anna learns some interesting things about her half sister and the father who
abandoned her years ago. Izzie is half Korean, she is a chef and their father wasn't the best of dads. This eases Anna's mind about her past, but she is still concerned about Burt and clearing him of Carl's murder.
While investigating, Anna stumbles on some secrets in Carl's life. Could these have lead to his death? As much as she doesn't want to know more, she persists and discovers the killer.
The first in a new series by Cornelia Kidd (Lea Wait) and it is off the a terrific start.

I have read everything Lea Wait has written, including her children’s books. I am looking forward to this new series.
